Players who like to be hit with extra volatility know to turn to slots from studios like Big Time Gaming (BTG). Following the release of The Race, the developer has another title ready to join the universe of online slots as soon as the 26th of April. Should you be over the moon with BTG’s new slot? Let’s take a closer look at what it has to offer.
Over the Moon is a Megaways slot with 117,649 ways to win and reactions. This is the foundation on top of which they added some extra features, like the name suggests, themed on space travel and rockets. In otherwise simple gameplay, Rockets may appear out of nowhere, each with an x1, x5 or x10 multiplier. Any one that appears will also have up to three fuel cells that show how long they can stay on the screen to pick any Meteor Prizes, which appear randomly among standard symbols. Meteors carry instant prizes that get multiplied by Rocket Multipliers, should there be one or more to collect them along the reel spin. Judging by our own experience, however, we weren’t too impressed by that point.
The game starts to come alive once you get 3 or more Scatters, for which you’ll get 12 Free Spins, plus 2 extra spins for any additional Scatter. During the bonus, Rockets will start randomly appearing with an ever-increasing multiplier to collect any Meteor Prizes in view. Each new rocket will have a higher multiplier. Still, you’ll be running against the limited number of spins, so they usually don’t get to grow by too much unless you re-trigger the bonus multiple times with additional Scatters. On a positive note, you may have multiple rockets on screen, which will collect and multiply instant prizes independently of each other. The bonus is fun, but once again, we weren’t too excited.
Fortunately, Over the Moon has an upgraded bonus for the more fortunate, called Enhanced Free Spins, which can be triggered naturally with a MegaScatter. The only difference is that Rocket multipliers will grow at double the pace, giving players the much-needed advantage of seeing bigger multipliers at the end of the bonus.
Free spin bonuses in Over the Moon don’t come often, so having the Win Exchange feature is a welcomed addition. It lets you exchange wins between 25x and 80x for the regular Free Spins.
Another recurring feature in recent BTG releases is the Bonus Buy. If it’s available in your region, you can exchange 70x your bet for the regular bonus and 140x your bet for Enhanced Free Spins at any time. Since BTG slots are volatile, and this game is not an exception, we’d recommend testing it in the demo mode first.
Unfortunately, the maximum payout in this new spring release is only 13,570x bet, comparable to Gifts of Fortune, which launched recently. If you want to try your luck at something more rewarding from their portfolio, see Rasputing MegaWays or Outlaw, both of which have a top prize above 64,000x bet. Alternatively, see Max Megaways, which has a maximum win cap of 140,000x!
Overall, Over the Moon is a BTG slot that may be fun to try if you fancy an above-average risk-return, with a decent 96.55% RTP. Otherwise, we’d stick with something like Rasputin, which is more fun and nuanced, or wait for their next release, Vegas Rush, which will come in a month and offer more bang for the buck with its trademarked MegaClusters mechanic.
