NetEnt will be releasing at least three new branded video slots this year. One of the most nostalgic of them is the Street Fighter II: The World Warrior Slot, which will take a generation of players back into the 90s. Here’s what we know about the game based on the official trailer which the company published last week and which you’ll be able to try out once the game is out in less than three weeks!
One of the giveaways is the 5x5 Cluster Pays mechanic, which has been very popular with other NetEnt slots like Aloha Cluster pays, The Legend of Shangri-La, Emojiplanet Video Slot, and Twin Spin Deluxe. What this means is that unlike traditional online slots, symbols in the new Street Fighter 2 will pay both left and right, up and down. That is only if you have 9 or more symbols in a cluster.
The other highlight of the game is the character selection at the beginning of the game. You get to choose 1 of 8 characters: Ryu, Ken, E. Honda, Guile, Chun-Li, Blanka, Zangief and Dhalsim. Each one of them is representing a volatility level that goes from “Win Often” to “Win Big”. The opponent will be chosen randomly.
In addition to that, each street fighter has a unique Wild Combo feature. To activate it, you’ll need high symbol combos that give you points. Fill up the Wild meter of your character to trigger the feature. For example, Ryu will place 3 Wild symbols on the same row, whereas Dhalsim will place 3 or 4 Wild symbols in random positions.
If you win the battle, you’ll progress to the Beat the Boss Free Spins, where you get to fight Balrog, Vega, Sagat and the truly evil M. Bison! Each bonus level has a higher win multiplier, starting with x2 and ending with x10!
Finally, there’s good news for everyone who's been eager to try their hand at the actual Street Fighter II arcade. The game will also feature a hidden Car Smash Bonus Game, where you get to control your character just in like in the original arcade and smash that car for some extra cash!
Bryan Upton, NetEnt Director of Games, commented: “At NetEnt, we strive to deliver content that – much like Street Fighter – raises the bar in what is possible in gaming and we are immensely proud to be working with such an iconic franchise especially something in tune with the retro trends right now. It is a dream come true to work on brands like these. Street Fighter II really allows us to bring something new and innovative to the market that no one else can.”
All in all, it seems like a fun slot that should suit a range of players given the abundance of volatility levels. The highly-anticipated game will be released on 21 May 2020! You’ll be able to try it first at one of the many featured NetEnt casinos.
