The Mega Moolah series by Neon Valley Studios gains a new member with King of Alexandria Mega Moolah, an Egyptian-themed slot that picks up where Break da Bank Again Mega Moolah's 4Tune Reels version left off back in August. Following the launch of this studio’s Atlantean Treasures Mega Moolah in February 2020 and Starlite Fruits Mega Moolah in October 2022, this slot brings the renowned Mega Moolah jackpot within an ancient Egyptian setting, inviting players to spin for potentially life-changing wins. However, the Mega Jackpot fans may want to adjust their expectations should they try this week’s release at one of the Games Global/Microgaming casinos, for it’s not that different from the bunch.
Base Game and Bonuses
King of Alexandria Mega Moolah follows a 5-reel layout with 10 paylines that pay both ways—from left to right and right to left. This dual-direction payout system is a hallmark across the Mega Moolah titles in the Neon Valley series, maximizing the chances for players to land winning combinations similar to what Starburst did more than a decade ago. Like Starlite Fruits and Atlantean Treasures, King of Alexandria features the same symbol payout values, where the BAR symbol and the classic 7 hold the highest value, followed by sea life symbols representing moderate wins.
Progressive Wheel Feature
The Progressive Wheel is a defining feature of the Mega Moolah series, providing four jackpot levels: Mini, Minor, Major, and Mega. In all three games, players can access the jackpot wheel by landing Progressive Trigger symbols on reels 2, 3, and 4. The Mega Jackpot starts at €2,000,000 across all games, as it was updated from €1,000,000 sometime ago. The gameplay mechanics are consistent across these titles, with a higher chance of triggering the jackpot wheel at increased bet sizes.
Expanding Wilds and Respins
The expanding Wilds feature, seen across all three games, plays a significant role in boosting potential wins, albeit not sky-high by any measure, especially that of Nolimit’s. Wild symbols appear on reels 2, 3, and 4, expanding to cover the entire reel and locking in place to activate a respin. Players can earn up to three successive respins by landing additional Wilds during each respin, increasing the potential for big, 30x+ payouts. This mechanic is visually adapted to each theme: Atlantean Treasures showcases oceanic creatures, Starlite Fruits leans into a neon fruit motif, and King of Alexandria integrates Egyptian symbols, each adding thematic depth to the Wilds but little or nothing else.
Final Thoughts
King of Alexandria Mega Moolah could’ve been a compelling addition to the Mega Moolah lineup if it was any different from Neon’s other MM-jackpot releases. While the theme is different, the hit rate of 21.69% and RTP of 86.78% (5.30% is the jackpot contribution) are the same across the trio. The consistency across these games provide a familiar experience that some players will appreciate, given many good reasons they would want to return for another round.
For everyone else, however, this is just a repeat of what GameBurger Studios did with Playboy Fortunes and 9 Pots of Gold earlier this year, or what Games Global did with Book of Goddess last year, which some would argue adds more noise and confusion to an average player’s online casino experience. All in all, if you like simple games with friendlier volatility and it must come with a life-changing jackpot, then King of Alexandria Mega Moolah is a game we would choose to play today.
