Croatian is a language that is not only spoken in Croatia but Bosnia and Herzegovina and other countries in the region. This also includes Romania and some regions of Austria, for instance. At the same time, other differences include things such various lexical differences that make it unique when compared to Serbian for example. There are many differences that are absolute, and some are widely used by the population, all depending on the situations which are encountered.
An interesting fact is that many linguistic words were created and then published since Croatia has become an independent country, as the means to provide a national identity!
