Casinos accepting players from Italy
Italy is a European country with rich gambling history that has recently made gradual steps towards the liberalization of its online gambling market, and done it quite successfully. In Italy only the State has the power to provide the rights to gamble, with AAMS (Amministrazione Autonoma dei Monopoli di Stato – Autonomous Administration of the State Monopolies) as the leading government agency to deal with all gambling related matters.
It all started in December of 2006 with the new gambling legislation that made legal real-money remote skill games and other regulations that allow for safe and secure operations. Finance Act 2007 and the additional revision proposal to Brussels came right after that, making the law even more favourable to the operators and their Italian players. “The Abruzzo Decree” in 2009 and “Comunitaria” decree in 2011 marked yet another important event in the Italian gaming reform process.
As of now, skill games, casino games, horse pools, bingo, cash poker games, tournament and solitaire poker games, fixed odd, totalisator sport and other events betting need AAMS license and operating standards that conform with the “Comunitaria” decree. Some of them are required to provide further certification of its platform(s) and games granted that it’s accredited with AAMS.
