Casinos accepting players from Spain
With so many new online gaming markets opening up in Europe just recently, Spain has also decided to do the same and help to stabilise their economy with more tax revenue. The new Gambling Law (Regulación Del Juego), approved by the EU and Spanish Congress, is effective since 2011, when all interested parties had to align their operations according to the regulations, apply for the license and, in some occasions, pay back taxes up to five years and start anew. The new act put an end to the grey market that was thriving when the country didn’t have any effective legislation to keep the industry supervised. The only types of games that the new law doesn’t allow are live in-play betting and bingo games, which are considered as even more addictive than their counterparts. The only exception, in this case, is autonomous Madrid. With the new regulatory foundation, brand new tax regime was born as well; and if everything goes well, Spanish players can soon claim tax back on all of their losses.
At the moment, the operators have to be registered with .se domain and make their gambling central units available for inspection and monitoring by the Spanish regulatory authorities. The main organisation that is responsible for the administration is the National Gambling Commission.
